Where to fly

Probably the most asked question is "where can I fly?"

The easiest answer is you can fly anywhere that you are following the Regulations. (See the Links page) Keep in mind that you will also need to follow any Local and Provincial regulations that are in place as well as privacy laws.

Highly recommended locations are flying in PLUZs (Public Land Use Zone) . Keep in mind that you should be aware of your location as there are Provincial Park areas within some PLUZs and Provincial and Federal Parks are a No Fly Zone.

Can I fly within the City? The answer is depending on your License class and which drone you are flying. With the new Mavic Mini (and other sub 250g) drone it has opened up alot of new opportunities. Flying within the City, besides the Transport Canada regulations, you must also follow two City bylaws. One if from Streets and Roads and the other is Parks and Recreation. I will not quote them here as they do change from time to time so check into them on www.Calgary.ca

Highly recommend downloading the NAV DRONE app. available for Android and IOS.
